5. Arithmetic Progression

An Arithmetic Progression (AP) is a sequence of numbers in which the difference between consecutive terms remains constant. This constant value is called the common difference. For example, in the sequence 2, 5, 8, 11, …, each term increases by 3, making it an arithmetic progression.

In this chapter, students learn how to find the nth term of an AP and the sum of the first n terms using mathematical formulas. These concepts help identify patterns and solve many practical problems involving regular increases or decreases, such as calculating savings, arranging objects, or analyzing numerical patterns. Arithmetic progression forms an important foundation for further studies in algebra and mathematical reasoning.
