8. Similar Triangles

Two triangles are said to be similar when they have the same shape but not necessarily the same size. In similar triangles, the corresponding angles are equal and the corresponding sides are proportional. This chapter explains important criteria for similarity of triangles such as AAA (Angle–Angle–Angle), SAS (Side–Angle–Side), and SSS (Side–Side–Side) similarity rules.

 

Students also learn the Basic Proportionality Theorem (Thales theorem) and its applications in solving geometric problems. Understanding similar triangles helps in calculating unknown lengths, heights, and distances, and it is widely used in practical fields such as surveying, architecture, and engineering.
